 Today was a big day as we had to assess our contribution to our local community. After assessing our sales, a total of £100 is divided amongst five charities with the hope to make a little difference towards their projects.  For ADRA UK , one scarf means, to ensure that families both in the UK and overseas who are facing challenges because of  disease, violence and hunger are helped . Also at Tenovus vital income has dropped due to the closure of the charity shops and they need to continue their work in providing cancer care.  For the amount of the price of a scarf , we can provide a face-to -face advice session at Shelter Cymru and help a family to keep their home, joining the fight against homelessness in Wales.  At Noah’s Ark , a scarf , can provide a pack of essentials for the parent of a child admitted in an emergency.  Lastly, at Save the Children, one scarf , pays for antibiotics to treat 40 children with pneumonia, making children happier and h...

I'm a third year Photography in the Arts student, studying at Swansea Metropolitan University of Wales Trinity Saint David. I am working as a Photography intern for Cup of Daisies. My personal work is mainly portraiture, through Cup of Daisies I have been able to continue that interest, develop my portfolio and continue meeting new people. Working as an intern involves photographing people wearing Cup of Daisies products in the street and in a studio. In order to get models I have to approach strangers, and engage with them, discussing the company and the charities it is working for. I aim to approach 'stylish' looking people, to create a stylish portrait. Although fashion is a new area to me, I felt it came quite natural, it was easy to spot someone who fashionably stood out. Hello from Cup of Daisies! Inspired by the brief intervals of slightly sunnier weather in the UK this Spring, why not look on the bright side of things. Featuring as a head accessory in this post is the 'Orange Jungle' scarf . This scarf was specially designed for the Noah's Ark Appeal , a charity in support for Children's Hospital in Wales.  I've paired the headscarf with a coral skater dress, colourful statement necklace and a dark-wash denim jacket. Today's Style Spotlight is shining on our main designer/owner of Cup of Daisies, Oana Balan, as she tells us the inspirations behind the scarf designs and how the unique company name came about... J: So tell us a bit about yourself as a designer and how you decided to design silk scarves? O: Since I was 16 I had the dream to study and become a fashion designer. I applied to all the London universities and went for interviews, during the time, a friend of mine showed me Liberty's! Five years later I thought silk scarves designed for charity can help raise fund towards the charities and impact society. Here we are, on the very last day of 2013, a time of reflection and to form resolutions for another New Year.  This is one of the last series of 'what our PR Interns are wearing' for the 2013 season, featuring our 'Purple Orchids' scarf, specifically designed for t he Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) . Working in more than 120 countries, ADRA provides aid to  disaster relief, community farming,water resources, food aid in  mother-child health programs and women education and training.  This design features the  native African flower motifs and is specially created to provide education  for women in Rwanda.  Wherever you may be, all of us from Cup of Daisies would like to wish that you've had a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year ahead! This is another blog post on 'what the interns are wearing', and today I'm here to talk about 'Blue Pineapples' . This particular design is inspired by the Merlin Charity , who develops projects in Asia and Africa delivering medical expertise to countries shattered by war or suffering from natural disasters such as earthquakes and floods. The illustrations represent the national symbols of the countries where Merlin's work is currently being carried out. This is one of Cup of Daisies ' most favoured scarf and personally mine too. I think it's something to do with the striking contrast of the blue and white colours faintly representing an elegant china vase. I was going for an old style glamour look and wanted the scarf to be worn as a centre head piece.  With the head piece in mind, I worked my outfit around it and decided to pair the look with a two piece combo which I purchased recently from the H&M Trend collection for the season, a ...
