February Celebrations

February has quietly creeped up on us again, and that means so has the big V-Day! Before long high street will once more be lined with heart-shaped everything from balloons to baking trays and sweet nothings that are in between. Associating the celebration of passion with warm colours like red, orange, pink, peach etc. is only appropriate as people tend to affiliate these colours as symbols of affection. Think no further if you're wanting to get a head start with planning the most perfect Valentines gift; Cup of Daisies has a selection of silk scarves for your special someone.

Apart from the great V-Day coming up, it is also Chinese New Year!! Chinese people believe that the colour 'red' brings good luck and prosperity which is why  people traditionally wear the colour red during this festive period. Inspired by the mandarin fruit which is commonly given to each other as a peace offering when visiting friends and family during Chinese New Year, our Orange Jungle scarf is the perfect accessory to complement any outfit.

Talk about a double celebration to get all dressed up for, these scarves with its one-of-a-kind designs will definitely make a unique fashion statement.

Art in Fashion I: J.W. Anderson LFW

'Art in Fashion' is the next big trend! Inspired by English painter Graham Sutherland, J.W. Anderson's latest "pretty ugly" collection at London Fashion Week (LFW) 2014 offered an artful distortion of construction over unconventional palette. British designer, J.W.Anderson has once again created a collection to challenge the audience's take on art within fashion. Photo: Isidore Montag "In plebeian terms, if "pretty ugly" were a thing, Anderson nailed it. Citing English modern painter Graham Sutherland as a reference point, Anderson appropriated the queasy colour palette of alien green, murky mustards, watery browns, moss and greys from Sutherland's paintings onto his collection. Anderson went further by employing "ugly" fabrics like corduroy, black satin and a two-toned seaweed woven mix as a personal challenge this time. Admittedly, some of these fabrics are among his most abhorred." It is the very juxtaposition ...

RED NOSE DAY and the Hindmarch bags xx

Oscar Wilde: Be yourself everyone else is already taken! At "Cup of Daisies", we try to mix a bit of eclectic fashion with the relationship between charities and social awareness! So, especially for Comic Relief, me, I come out to strike a pose for Shelter Cymru, ADRA UK, Noah's Ark Appeal, Tenovus and Merlin UK, because standing up for a social cause improves your society, and together we do better! My selected design from the Comic Relief campaign for March 2015 was designed by Anya Hindmarch...yes, the Hindmarch bags!                                                              I am wearing the Nosebot!      ...

Styling Blue Pineapples

This is another blog post on 'what the interns are wearing', and today I'm here to talk about 'Blue Pineapples' . This particular design is inspired by the Merlin Charity , who develops projects in Asia and Africa delivering medical expertise to countries shattered by war or suffering from natural disasters such as earthquakes and floods. The illustrations represent the national symbols of the countries where Merlin's work is currently being carried out. This is one of Cup of Daisies ' most favoured scarf and personally mine too. I think it's something to do with the striking contrast of the blue and white colours faintly representing an elegant china vase. I was going for an old style glamour look and wanted the scarf to be worn as a centre head piece.  With the head piece in mind, I worked my outfit around it and decided to pair the look with a two piece combo which I purchased recently from the H&M Trend collection for the season, a ...
