SPRING FAIR 2014: Inspiring Buying

Last week, Cup of Daisies had the privilege to take part at the SPRING FAIR INTERNATIONAL 2014 held at NEC Birmingham. The SPRING FAIR is one of the most crucial international trade fair/convention in every buyer's social calendar. This event brings together over 300,000 exciting new British-designed products over 13 unique sectors that are hot off the buying market, creating a buzz of the latest snippets of what's in trend.

The Prince's Trust was the main sponsor for new up and coming designers in the retail market, amongst the list were Cup of Daisies, C Grand London, Rosie Olivia Millinery and many more, which were all displayed in Hall 20 along with other bigger international brand names such as Re-Uz London, Shruti Designs, D&X London and Wrinkle Cork Products.

John O'Reilly, regional director of The Prince's Trust in Central England, commented:
"We are excited that some of The Prince's Trust supported businesses are able to exhibit their products at the i2i Spring Fair this year. It's a fantastic opportunity for the fledgling businesses to share and showcase their exciting ranges and make valuable contacts".

Our company owner/head scarf designer, Oana Balan, said:
"It was a great experience to see so many businesses and different nationalities brought together to one display hall. There were also incredible displays of various soap brands such as Bomb Cosmetics and My Little Bath Soap in the same hall. Amongst my favourite products to check-out were the cards with amazing illustrations from Wrendale Designs and Jo Stockdale located over at Hall 4".

It was truly a great experience and opportunity for a young fashion label like Cup of Daisies to be part of this international trade fair. It has provided a display platform for our label to be out there in the retail market and to be that one step further into creating a social impact through fashion and design.

3 of the Hottest Accessory Trends for SS21

Just because lockdown restrictions are starting to ease doesn’t mean that you have to go out and buy a brand new outfit. Sure, you want to feel and look good at social events after a year of emotional turmoil. (We get it.) That said, sometimes all it takes is the right accessory to tap into current trends and take your style to the next level. Speaking of, here are 3 of the best accessory trends for Spring/Summer 2021 that would make the perfect addition to your existing wardrobe. Utilitarian Bags Firstly, it’s almost like the fashion industry has accounted for the fact that most of us haven’t needed a handbag in months. By introducing pretty-yet-practical options across the SS21 catwalks , they’re easing us back into the practice of carrying a bag. From Kenzo’s slouchy waist belt, to phone lanyards at Versace, to Dior’s straw grab-and-go versions, the focus is on the smaller, the better.  However, simplified, medium-size bags also did the rounds at Hermès and Prada for those who can’

'Between Bowties & Lady Butterflies'

Outfit details of the week: H&M Trend floral crop top purchased from my latest London trip two weeks ago.  Absolutely adore the print on this particular top, the combination of colours are striking yet brings together a blend of sophistication. What makes it super on trend is that it's made out of the scuba material which is super big this season, and if you haven't' noticed, the cropped length has absolutely taken over the runways! What's not to like.  Paired it with my lovely Topshop white thick cotton flared skirt for a clean crisp look. Love the contrast between the prints and clean crisp skirt.  White is the season's new black. These red hot studded kitten heels from Zara have been a good bargain from last season's sale and I've never regretted getting them.  To top it off, I've styled it with one of our very own CUP OF DAISIES scarves, and I knew instantly it had to be the Lady Red scarf. Fun fact: This particular

Art in Fashion I: J.W. Anderson LFW

'Art in Fashion' is the next big trend! Inspired by English painter Graham Sutherland, J.W. Anderson's latest "pretty ugly" collection at London Fashion Week (LFW) 2014 offered an artful distortion of construction over unconventional palette. British designer, J.W.Anderson has once again created a collection to challenge the audience's take on art within fashion. Photo: Isidore Montag "In plebeian terms, if "pretty ugly" were a thing, Anderson nailed it. Citing English modern painter Graham Sutherland as a reference point, Anderson appropriated the queasy colour palette of alien green, murky mustards, watery browns, moss and greys from Sutherland's paintings onto his collection. Anderson went further by employing "ugly" fabrics like corduroy, black satin and a two-toned seaweed woven mix as a personal challenge this time. Admittedly, some of these fabrics are among his most abhorred." It is the very juxtaposition
